The Naramata Heritage Inn & Spa

A Little of Our
Rich Colorful Past

The Naramata Heritage Inn & Spa was originally built in 1908 by John Moore Robinson who started the fruit industry in this region of the Okanagan Valley.

Mr. Robinson had made his fortune in the newspaper business in central Canada when he decided to head west in search of gold during the Klondike gold rush of the late 1800's. Stopping briefly in the Okanagan valley he succumbed to the serene beauty and idyllic climate and quickly realized the agricultural and development potential of the area. After surveying and developing the townsites of Peachland and Summerland as well as many fruit bearing orchards, he set his sights on what he believed was the ideal location for the “Perfect Community”.

The “Hotel Naramata, resting on the shores of Okanagan Lake”, was his crowning achievement in land development. Over the years this building has functioned as a hotel, a private girls' school, and as the home of the Robinson Family.

Make our history part of your future

Just a 15 minute scenic drive from Highway 97 and airport access, the picturesque village of Naramata is bounded by lakeshore, clay bluffs, vineyards, orchards and wilderness.

Naramata is located on the eastern shore of Okanagan Lake, just outside the city of Penticton. The Naramata Bench is home to orchards and vineyards which surround the village, and many world-class wineries.

Naramata also has beautiful sandy beaches, is home to local artisans, cottage industries, and the Kettle Valley trail for hiking and biking. This trail offers many picture-perfect views of Okanagan Lake and the vineyards on the surrounding hillsides. Tree lined streets made for strolling, artisan shops, a Museum and quaint Country store weave the fabric of a community who’s history is very much a part of the old Naramata Hotel. Once a destination of the great CPR Paddle wheelers that plied the waters of Lake Okanagan, Naramata’s earthy solitude still exists and is cherished by the people that call it home.

Spring blossoms, Summer sun, Autumn harvest and Winter snows paint the backdrops for endless outdoor adventure & naturalist activities just minutes from the inn.

Explore the wineries, restaurants and special events during our Spring and Fall Wine Festivals. Enjoy a wide range of Wine Tours, Music, Theatre, Art and International sports and cultural shows throughout the year.
